The World Jurist Association is pleased to announce its 23rd Biennial Congress on the Law of the World, which will be held in Kiev, Ukraine. This will be the first time since our inception that we will bring the Congress to this region.
The Kiev Congress symbolizes the kind of success the WJA has achieved over the past 50 years. The economic, political and social achievements in Ukraine during the past several decades are a testament to the people of Ukraine and the possibilities available through the adherence to Rule of Law.
We are proud to invite the members of the members of the legal profession - judges, lawyers, law professors, government official and students to join us for this important meeting on the Law of the World.
The WJA's Congress on the Law of the World is a highlight event ?held approximately every two years ?the Congress provides an open forum for legal professionals and others interested in the subjects at hand to gather as individuals and discuss the state of international law, domestic law and practical experience as they impact on the development of Rule of Law. The Congress reminds delegates that world peace, economic development and social and cultural opportunities are only assured through a strong and dynamic adherence to the Rule of Law in all nations and at all levels of government. It is a gathering of individuals ?not representatives of nations, political parties or corporate entities ?our attendees are encouraged to speak freely and are provided a friendly venue where their views, experiences and ideas are equally welcomed.

About Kiev
Kiev, also spelled Kyiv, is the capital and the largest city of Ukraine, located in the north central part of the country on the Dnieper River. It is one of the oldest and most important cities of Eastern Europe and has played a pivotal role in the development of the medieval East Slavic civilization as well as in the modern Ukrainian nation. In May 1982 the city celebrated its 1500th Anniversary. During the late 19th century, Kiev emerged as the third most important city of the Russian Empire and a major center of commerce in the southwestern region. In the wake of the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Declaration of Independence of Ukraine was proclaimed in the city by the Ukrainian parliament on August 24, 1991.
